Now all the cules, just like me who have been following the blaugrana for more than a decade now must be aware that the club is not unknown to the hardships that leads to success. who could ever forget the dread full joan gaspart era which led to selling of one of the club's legend to the bitter foes REAL MADRID!!!!. well that lack luster period of 2000 -2003 did not have a negative impact on the club.
ALL this lack of silverware during this time prompted the deal which brought another club legend RONALDINHO GAUCHO to the iconic and beloved CAMP NOU . Now this was some step towards reviving the club on course of its present glory days.Frank rijkard and ronaldinho along with other club legends like Samuel eto , Lillian thurram and Gianluca zambrotta were brought in , which eventually led to the champions league success of 2006 only the second time since the dream Team's success back in 1992, but this was just the foundation of what was to come from the team which was not so long back was considered average.
All the lure that 2006 success brought with it seemed fading up as results started to dry up come end of 2007-2008 season .. nd suddenly eveything seemed gloomy ...the came the disastrous drubbing by etrnal foes real madrid when barca was humiliated 4-0 and had to give a guard of honor to the champions...
everything seemed lost .....glory days seemed to be far gone and all we could stare was down abyss uncertain about future.

THEN came the start of an era which not only redefined the history of club but revolutionised the very way by which the game should be played.
After the season 2007-2008 ended, management decided to relieve coach Frank rijkard of his duties. In reality i think he had given us all he had and it was a wise descision to let him go.
Then the debate started Who should succeed rijkard .coaching a club like fc barcelona can proove to be a daunting task for any world class coach let alone an upstart,but yes out of the possible names pep guardiola's was ringing the loudest .Though just plying his trade with barcelona B guardiola had garnered attention by his exciting philosophy once instigated by johan cruyff. He earned his side promotion and was keenly monitored by fc barcelona hierarchy.finally guardiola was appointed as the coach of fc barcelona . This appointment of guardiola led to a complete overhaul of dressing room with key players leaving the club with new one starting afresh .Out went club legends like Ronaldinho, Deco , Belleti, Thurram resulting in the arival of keita and Daniel alves from sevilla while pique was called back from Manchester united.
This all signified to a greater future at camp nou. with the very first matches guardiola made himself clear with his tactics and idea that playere need to play as a team and not as individuals.
he reinstigated the philosophy of TOTAL FOOTBALL synonym with the dream team which guardiola himself was a part of.
Then came the sheer and utter dominance of a BARCA side which was tearing defenses ruthlessly at will.Results started to follow up and this was embarked by the great 2-6 away result at santiago bernabaeu which remain Real madrids one of the biggest losses of recent history . Things did not stop here as a 5-0 demolition of Real madrid followed.
This was just the beginning of a series of events which would go on to redefine the club's history.It was During this season that barca became unstoppable nd would go on to win the league and champions league double, loosing out to real madrid in copa de rey final ony to a cristiano ronaldo header in extra time.
This side would go on to beat sir alex ferguson's side 3-1 at wembley thus winning its 4th europian cup in the process and third champions league.
After this win there were many suggestions that this is the BEST club side ever to take the field and FC BARCELONA was being praised from all parts of the world. But then came a season which would change everything created in the past four years. everythinh seemed rosey till december untill david villa suffered a broken leg , this was the man who was so instrumental in barca's success of the previous year.then things started slowing up not GLACIAL but still the difference was visible and many questioned barca's hunger for silver ware. Though barca was formiddable and were the firm favourites to retain their champions league crown which was only strengthened 7-1 maulingof fc bayer leverkusen at camp nou with talismanic lionel breaking a record of most goals scored n a match by scoring not 1,2,4 but coring 5 goals in a single match.
But suddenly things started to change and the barca lost the league to real madrid at cap nou by 2-1 reverse and then were halted at semi final stage by a stubborn chelsea defense. NOW the inevitable stared at us ...PEP GUARDIOLA RESIGNEDDDD!!!!!!!
